England´s Trish Johnson credited a red hot putter as she shot a seven-under-par 65 to set the pace in the Tenerife Open de España Femenino at Costa Adeje in the Canary Islands. The recent Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open champion fired eight birdies and one bogey in hot and sunny conditions to establish an early two stroke lead over South African Stacy Lee Bregman.

The Ladies European Tour returns to Spain this week for the Tenerife Open de España Femenino at the stunning Golf Costa Adeje on the south west of the island.

A field of 126 players will contest the 18th tournament on the 2014 LET calendar, including three of last year’s European Solheim Cup winners, Carlota Ciganda, Azahara Muñoz and Charley Hull, who will play together for the first two rounds, teeing off at 8.45am on Thursday.

Golf Costa Adeje, in the town of Adeje (Tenerife island), has been appointed to host the Tenerife Spanish Ladies Open 2014, competition framed within the Ladies European Tour that will take place between 18 and 21 September, with the main sponsorship of the Canarian Tourism Board, Tenerife Tourism Board and Reale Seguros, thus maintaining their long support to professional women’s golf.
