This morning, La Hacienda Links Golf Resort hosted the presentation of the Santander Spanish Women’s Professional Championship, one of the most prestigious events on the national calendar and a very special occasion for the players. The tournament, which will be held for the first time at the San Roque complex and will take place this week on the Heathland course, will bring together a top-level field with four champions among the participants, six Andalusians and numerous regulars on the European circuit. In addition, the event comes at a decisive moment in the season, just one week before the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho, which will be held from 27 to 30 November at the Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf.

The event was attended by Bernardo Lazcano, president of La Hacienda Links Golf Resort; José Manuel Crespo, president of the Professional Committee of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation and provincial delegate in Cadiz; Javier Escudero, director of the Santander Private Banking office in Jerez de la Frontera (Cadiz); and Alicia Garrido, director of the Santander Golf Tour.

The president of the host club, Bernardo Lazcano, emphasised the importance of hosting a championship of this magnitude on the Heathland course, ‘the hidden gem of the resort’: “We are delighted to host this event, and especially proud that it is being held on the Heathland course, which is more technical, demanding and orthodox than the Links course. Here, mistakes are costly, and for a professional event, that is exactly what we want to see.‘ Lazcano highlighted that the club is experiencing sustained growth: ’2025 is proving to be a record year in every sense. I don’t think this is a one-off boom, but rather a trend that will continue to grow. This location is unique and the club team is ready to host this tournament again in the future.”

For his part, José Manuel Crespo highlighted the level of women’s golf in Andalusia and the importance of the tournament for the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation: “We have a squad of players of impressive quality. Ten of those competing here will play in the Spanish Women’s Open at the end of the month, and four have already been Spanish champions in previous editions. Our job is to promote, develop and advance women’s golf, and events like this are essential.‘ Crespo also highlighted the appeal of the course: ’The region breathes golf from every corner, and this course is a gem. Both the Links and the Heathland offer unique experiences, and the treatment of the player is exceptional.”

Javier Escudero from Santander Private Banking highlighted the experience that clients enjoy at each event on the circuit: “Golf offers something that other sports don’t: four or five hours spent with a professional, receiving advice, sharing impressions and enjoying a unique day out. Many customers tell us that it’s worth more than ten lessons.‘ Escudero also emphasised the bank’s commitment: ’The bank is very clear about the importance of supporting women’s golf. Thanks to this circuit, some big names have emerged, and we want to continue promoting it for many years to come.”

Finally, Alicia Garrido, director of the Santander Golf Tour, highlighted the quality of the line-up of participants and the strategic value of this event: “This week we have a spectacular level, with four champions, six Andalusians and many players from the European circuit. Heathland is one of the great unknowns in the area, but it has nothing to envy the Links course: it is technical, demanding and will force you to think about every shot. The fact that most of them have not competed here adds even more excitement.‘ Garrido also highlighted the proximity to the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho: ’For many, it is a very important preparatory tournament, in addition to the incentive of becoming Spanish champion.‘ She also announced good news for the future: ’The circuit is very well established, thanks to the support of sponsors and partners. We have renewed for two more years and will soon be able to announce the 2026 calendar.”

The tournament will begin tomorrow with the circuit’s usual Pro-Am, while the professional competition will take place from Wednesday onwards, with three decisive days to crown the new Spanish champion.

About La Hacienda Links Golf Resort

La Hacienda Links Golf Resort, located in San Roque with privileged views of the Strait of Gibraltar, is one of the most outstanding golf resorts in southern Europe. The resort combines first-class facilities with two complementary courses: the Links, with its coastal and panoramic character, and the Heathland, the championship course designed by Dave Thomas. The latter offers a varied and demanding layout, with natural undulations, large greens and strategically placed obstacles that demand precision and careful planning with every shot. Its length of over 6,100 metres and its integration into the landscape of the Cadiz countryside make Heathland an ideal setting for top-level professional competitions.

Homenaje, Wilson Golf, Toa Shoes, and Estrella Damm are the preferred suppliers. The Royal Spanish Golf Federation, together with the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation and the other regional federations through which the circuit passes, provide the rest of the essential support for this tour.
