This morning, Club Zaudín Golf hosted the presentation of the ninth event of the Santander Golf Tour 2025, the Doubles Championship, which will be held on 5 and 6 November at the Seville course. The event, which is also the last one to count towards the circuit ranking, will be key in deciding who will be crowned champion of the year in a very special season marking the tenth anniversary of the Santander Golf Tour.

The presentation ceremony was attended by Isabel Guisado, managing director of Club Zaudín Golf; Javier del Valle, director of Santander Private Banking in Seville; and Alicia Garrido, director of the Santander Golf Tour.

The managing director of the host club, Isabel Guisado, welcomed the players and attendees, highlighting the excellent condition of the course after the recent rains: “The course looks beautiful. After the tough summer we’ve had, the rain has been fantastic and the course is in magnificent condition. It’s a course that is thoroughly enjoyed by both amateurs and professionals alike, and can be adapted to any level of difficulty. It also has spectacular natural surroundings, surrounded by olive trees, which makes it very special.”
Guisado also highlighted the format of the championship, one of the most eagerly awaited events on the circuit: “This is where the Doubles Championship is played, a format that we amateurs love and which adds a different kind of excitement to the circuit. The course has strategic holes — such as the 17th and the 3rd — which can decide the outcome. What’s more, it’s the last scoring event in the ranking, so there will be a lot of excitement right up to the end. We hope that many people will come to enjoy top-level women’s golf, because having these players here is a real treat.”

For his part, Javier del Valle, director of Santander Private Banking in Seville, emphasised the importance of the tournament for both the players and the bank’s customers: “We are celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Santander Golf Tour and, after so many years, interest and participation continue to grow. Every season we have more customers who want to be part of the Pro-Am, and this year we even had a waiting list. This demonstrates the success of the format and the appeal of being able to share a full day with professional players, learning from them and enjoying a unique experience.”
Del Valle also highlighted the connection that golf creates between customers and athletes: ‘Golf has something special: it allows people to get together, chat and enjoy the sport in an intimate way. That connection between customers and professionals is what makes this tournament so highly valued and each edition a success.’

Finally, Alicia Garrido, director of the Santander Golf Tour, explained the importance of this event in the calendar: “This is the penultimate event of the season, but the last one that counts towards the ranking. This is where the winner of the year’s title will be decided, as the last event, the Spanish Championship, does not count towards the ranking for foreign players. Lauren Holmey, the current leader and recent winner in La Coruña, and Alejandra Llaneza, who is just a few points behind, both have a chance. Everything is up for grabs.”
Garrido added that excitement is guaranteed thanks to the format of the tournament: “It is a pairs event, which adds an extra element of strategy. Alejandra will compete alongside Beatriz Barrios from Seville, who knows the course very well, while Lauren will play with Vanessa Knecht from Switzerland, who is returning after injury. On the first day, the format will be best ball, and on the second, greensome, alternating shots. We are sure to see lots of birdies and a great show.”

The tournament will feature the best players on the circuit, including the main contenders for the title, and will be played over two days (Wednesday and Thursday). Tomorrow will see the circuit’s Pro-Am, a day of socialising between professionals and amateurs, while on Wednesday and Thursday it will be decided which pair will be crowned victorious and which player will be proclaimed champion of the 2025 ranking.
