The Santander Golf Tour arrives in La Coruña for the final stretch of the season
- The Real Club de Golf de La Coruña will host the eighth event of the season
- The tournament will take place from October 29 to 30 and will feature 23 players from seven different countries
This morning saw the presentation of the eighth round of the Santander Golf Tour 2025 at the Real Club de Golf de La Coruña, a venue that could prove decisive for the overall ranking of the circuit. The Santander Golf Tour, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, welcomes some of the best players on the national and international scene to La Coruña.
The presentation of the event was attended by Jorge Cobián Casares, president of the Real Club de Golf de La Coruña; Patricia Aramburu, commercial director of Santander Private Banking in Galicia; and Alicia Garrido, director of the Santander Golf Tour.
Jorge Cobián Casares, president of the Real Club de Golf de La Coruña, welcomed the attendees and highlighted the club’s role as host: “We would like to thank Banco Santander for its support of the Spanish women’s circuit. The course is in very good condition and we hope the weather will be favourable during these days of competition. It is a course that requires patience and precision, especially because of the roughs, which are very demanding. If the wind picks up, especially on the last day, it can completely change the strategy, so my advice to them would be to play smart and aim for the fairway. The club is delighted to host this event again and to support women’s golf, which is experiencing an extraordinary moment.”
Patricia Aramburu, commercial director of Santander Private Banking in Galicia, highlighted the importance of the tournament for both the players and the bank’s customers: “It is a real privilege for us to be able to host a stop on the circuit here in La Coruña, on a magnificent course like this one. For our customers, the Pro-Am is a unique experience: sharing a game with a professional, learning from their play and spending the whole day with them is something they will never forget. In fact, there is a waiting list, because every year more and more people want to take part. It is a very special day, combining sport, learning and socialising, and perfectly reflects the values that Banco Santander wants to convey through its support for women’s golf. After ten years, seeing how this circuit has grown and how it generates more and more enthusiasm is a source of pride.
Alicia Garrido, director of the Santander Golf Tour, emphasised the excitement surrounding the final events on the calendar: “This is the eighth stop on the Santander Golf Tour and we are reaching the final stretch of the season with everything still to play for. The standings are wide open: Lauren Holmey of the Netherlands is the current leader, but Alejandra Llaneza of Mexico, Amaia Latorre and Marina Escobar all have a real chance of taking the top spot. The winner of the ranking will receive a ticket to the final of the Ladies European Tour’s European School and an invitation to compete in the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho. We are looking forward to a great show this week in La Coruña.”
Garrido also highlighted the consolidation of the circuit as a development platform for emerging players: ‘More and more international golfers are choosing the Santander Golf Tour to take their first steps as professionals, because there is no other grassroots circuit like this in Europe. It is a real springboard for promising young female golfers, and we are very proud that both Spanish and foreign players find a space here to compete and grow.’
Twenty-three players from seven different countries will take part in the event, competing for the title at the Real Club de Golf de La Coruña. Tomorrow will see the circuit’s Pro-Am, where amateurs and professionals will enjoy a unique day of golf, while the winner of the Santander Golf Tour La Coruña 2025 will be decided on 29 and 30 October.
