The Plaza Mahou at the Santiago Bernabéu hosted the official presentation of the 4th Schuster & Friends Tournament today, an event that has established itself as one of the most prominent charity tournaments on the calendar and which, in this edition, will take a significant step forward with its move to the Costa del Sol.

The event brought together numerous figures from the worlds of sports, culture, and the media, who came to show their support for a tournament that grows in importance each year in the national golf scene under the leadership of Bernd Schuster. Notable attendees included Risto Mejide, Miguel Lago, Raúl Ruiz, Iñaki Cano, and Poty Castillo, among others.

After three editions held in Salamanca, the tournament will take place for the first time on the Costa del Sol on June 5 and 6, with Santa Clara Golf Marbella serving as the venue and La Zambra Resort in Mijas as the official hotel for guests.
The event is supported by Turismo Costa del Sol as the main sponsor, thereby reinforcing the destination as one of the top international attractions for golf and tourism.

During his remarks, Bernd Schuster recalled the project’s origins, which emerged after the pandemic with a very clear goal: “We wanted to get together again, have fun with friends, and share moments. From there, the idea arose to organize a golf tournament that would also have a charitable component.”

The former soccer player highlighted how the event has evolved over the years: “We’ve been improving little by little each year, paying close attention to the details and the overall experience. Reaching this fourth edition at this level is something that makes us very proud.”

One of the cornerstones of the tournament remains its charitable aspect. This year, the initiative will support the Sonrisas sin Cáncer association: “From the start, we knew the tournament should also serve to help others. I’ve always been involved in charitable causes, and we believe it’s important to give back some of what we’ve received.”

The move to the Costa del Sol also represents a significant step forward in the tournament’s standing: “Coming to the Costa del Sol takes us to the next level. It’s a destination that generates excitement and fits perfectly with what we want the tournament to be.”

Schuster also highlighted the atmosphere created at each edition, which is key to the event’s growth: “The most important thing is that people want to come back. Every year they ask us when the next edition will be, and that means we’re doing things right. A very special atmosphere is created here.”

The 4th Schuster & Friends Tournament will bring together nearly 80 players and around 150 guests in a format that combines sports competition with social activities and exclusive experiences. The event will conclude with a charity auction, with proceeds going to charitable causes. With its arrival on the Costa del Sol, the tournament begins a new phase that reinforces its growth and consolidates its identity as an event where sports, friendship, and solidarity take center stage.
