Sára Kousková wins Tenerife Women’s Open on historic day of golf

- The Czech player wins the tournament at Abama Golf after a thrilling final day and achieves her second consecutive victory on the circuit
- Ana Peláez, tied for third, once again falls short of her second title on the circuit
The Tenerife Women’s Open 2025 saw a final day on Sunday that lived up to the spectacular Abama Golf course. The victory finally went to Sára Kousková, who carded a 71 (-9 overall) to seal her second consecutive victory on the Ladies European Tour after winning two weeks ago at the Jabra Ladies Open. The Czech, who started as the leader with a one-stroke advantage, once again demonstrated her excellent form with a combination of solidity, strategy, and nerves of steel on the last two holes.
Kousková started her round at an unstoppable pace, scoring birdies on holes 1 and 2 to quickly open up a gap between herself and her pursuers. Another birdie on hole 6 put her at -11 overall, but she immediately found herself in trouble from the tee and scored her first bogey of the day on hole 7. After another birdie on 10 and a spectacular putt on 11 from more than seven meters, the Czech seemed to have sealed the tournament. However, the final round unexpectedly became complicated: a bogey on 15 and a double bogey on 16 tightened the standings again on a bizarre day. Kousková managed to compose herself with composure to close with two solid pars on the 17th and 18th and claim victory with a cumulative score of -9 on the island of eternal spring.
“I’m speechless, still processing what has happened,” said an emotional Kousková after the trophy presentation. “This course can give you a lot… or take everything away from you in an instant. On the 16th, I had a bad swing, but I knew I had to focus on the next shot. My caddie helped me a lot, keeping me lighthearted, talking to me about other things so I wouldn’t think too much. I’m very proud of the work we’ve done.” The Czech player has established herself as one of the fittest players on the circuit this season and a clear contender for the LET Order of Merit.
Helen Briem finished in second place. The young German once again showed her tremendous potential and was one of the players who put the most pressure on the Czech with her birdie on the 17th hole. With a round of 70 (-2) and a total of -8, she was just one stroke away from the playoff and from fighting for what could have been her second victory on the circuit after her victory at La Sella in 2024.
For her part, Ana Peláez from Malaga once again performed well on the final day of the Tenerife Women’s Open. Despite not being able to repeat the sensational round of 66 she carded on the third day, the Andalusian showed control and composure to finish with a par card (72). A birdie on the 10th hole, after a first round of eight pars and a bogey, allowed her to finish the tournament at -7, tied for third with Austria’s Emma Spitz and Finland’s Noora Komulainen.
“Today was a day to fight and stay strong. I wasn’t as accurate off the tee as yesterday, but I tried to stay calm and play each shot with intention,“ Ana explained. ”I’m very happy with the week overall. Victory will come. I felt very supported in Tenerife, it was special to share it with my caddie, with my people… Playing at home is always a luxury. It was my first time on the island and I loved this course.”
Strong performance by the Spanish players
Alongside Ana Peláez, Marta Martín once again showed her strength with a score of 73 (+1) to finish with a total of -2 in joint 20th place. The Madrid native produced some of the most spectacular shots of the week and continues to progress on the circuit. Blanca Fernández and Luna Sobrón finished at +2, tied for 30th place, while Amaia Latorre (+6) and Clara Moyano (+12) were unable to improve in the final round.

A new queen on the circuit
Czech player Sára Kousková claimed her second consecutive victory on the circuit. Two victories on the Ladies European Tour and four victories on the LET Access Series make up the track record of a player who, along with Mimi Rhodes (three victories this year), is the favorite to win the circuit’s Order of Merit.
