Santander Golf Tour´s circuit 2025 is about to kick off its tenth edition with more excitement than ever. In an announcement that reinforces the circuit’s commitment to the development of women’s golf, it has been confirmed that the player who leads the ranking after the first three events of the season will receive an invitation to compete in the Tenerife Women’s Open, a Ladies European Tour (LET) tournament to be held at Abama Golf (Tenerife) from 5 to 8 June.

The race for this grand prize kicks off next week, on 20 and 21 March, at the Empordà Golf links course (Girona). The format chosen for the event is the Birdie Challenge, a new feature on the circuit last year that was a great success among the professionals, rewarding the player who scores the most birdies overall in the tournament. To encourage even more aggressive play, players are guaranteed par on every hole. If a player fails to make a birdie on the first nine holes, her score on the 9th hole will be a bogey, and the same will apply on the second round. This format allows golfers to attack each flag without fear of making mistakes, offering a dynamic and exciting spectacle from the first day of competition. María Herráez, the current champion of the circuit ranking, won at this same venue last year.

The second tournament of the season will be held at El Saler Golf Club (Valencia) on 9 and 10 April, using a stroke play format. Considered one of the best courses in Spain, its design combines dune areas next to the Mediterranean with stretches of pine trees, offering a challenge where wind management and precision in long shots play a fundamental role in the final result.

The third and final tournament before deciding which player will qualify for the Tenerife Women’s Open will be the match play tournament at Real Golf de Pedreña (Cantabria) from 14 to 16 May. This event, which has become a classic on the Santander Golf Tour, will hold its first day in stroke play format, with the top sixteen advancing to the knockout stage, where they will compete over the last two days in an exciting match play bracket to crown the champion.

With this announcement, the Santander Golf Tour continues to establish itself as a springboard to the elite of women’s golf. In addition, it should be noted that the winner of the circuit ranking at the end of the year will receive an invitation to the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho, also part of the Ladies European Tour, as well as a direct place in the final phase of the LET Qualifying School (Q-School), a key opportunity to access the top European women’s golf circuit.

The Santander Golf Tour is Banco Santander’s firm commitment to professional women’s golf, and it will celebrate its tenth season in 2025. With ten tournaments throughout Spain, some of them part of higher circuits such as the LETAS, it is supported by Santander Private Banking, Carmignac, and Santander Seguros as sponsors. Homenaje, Wilson Golf, Toa Shoes, and Estrella Damm are the preferred suppliers. The Royal Spanish Golf Federation, together with the other regional federations, provide the rest of the essential support for this tour.
