Italian Marta Spiazzi has been awarded a direct place to compete in the 2025 Tenerife Women’s Open after her victory in the Santander Golf Tour Match Play, held this week at Real Golf de Pedreña. Spiazzi starred in a memorable final against Catalonia’s Paz Marfá, coming back from a five-hole deficit with seven consecutive birdies to achieve one of the most spectacular feats in the history of the circuit. With this victory, in addition to winning her first title as a professional, Spiazzi has secured a place among the best players on the Ladies European Tour at Abama Golf.

The place awarded in Pedreña was reserved for the highest-ranked golfer in the Santander Golf Tour rankings after this tournament, and Marta Spiazzi earned that privilege thanks to a flawless week in northern Spain. Her solid play during the preliminary rounds and her epic comeback in the grand final guarantee her participation in one of the most anticipated tournaments on the European calendar.

The Tenerife Women’s Open 2025 will be held from 5 to 8 June at Abama Golf, in the south-west of the island. The tournament, which returns to the Ladies European Tour calendar with prize money of €500,000, will bring together the 132 best players on the international circuit in a unique setting. Designed by Dave Thomas, Abama Golf is distinguished by its technical and demanding course, with panoramic views of the Atlantic and the island of La Gomera. In addition, the event will feature three hours of live television coverage each day, reaching 87 countries and more than 140 million households.

Spiazzi, visibly moved after her victory, acknowledged the significance of her achievement: ‘I still can’t believe it. It’s a dream to be able to play in such an important tournament as the Tenerife Women’s Open, and to do so thanks to a victory like this makes it even more special.’ The Italian will thus play her second tournament on the Ladies European Tour in one of the most iconic settings in European women’s golf.

With this new edition of the Tenerife Women’s Open, Turismo de Tenerife consolidates its commitment to women’s sport and golf tourism as drivers of international promotion. The tournament, which between 2002 and 2010 hosted nine editions under the name Tenerife Ladies Open, once again places the island at the centre of professional women’s golf.
