The Tenerife Women’s Open 2025 will bring together 132 players from 35 different countries, including leading names from the Ladies European Tour such as Mimi Rhodes, Chiara Tamburlini, Sara Kouskova, and Nuria Iturrioz.
The tournament kicks off tomorrow, Thursday, at 8:30 a.m. at Abama Golf, with unbeatable weather forecast and everything ready for a historic week for international women’s golf.

European women’s golf returns to Tenerife in style. After more than a decade of absence, the Ladies European Tour (LET) returns to the island with the Tenerife Women’s Open 2025, one of the major debuts on the international calendar this season. Starting tomorrow, Thursday, June 5, at 8:30 a.m., the Abama Golf course in the municipality of Guía de Isora will host the 132 best players on the circuit in a competition that will undoubtedly leave its mark on Canarian golf.

The tournament—the eleventh edition of this historic event, which has not been held since 2011—will feature players from 35 different countries, clearly demonstrating the growth and diversity of the circuit. In total, the LET has 416 members from 43 different nationalities this season, with 52 rookies representing 26 countries. In addition, this year €39 million in prize money will be distributed across 30 events, held in 20 countries and five continents.

On the sporting front, all eyes are on England’s Mimi Rhodes, the current leader of the 2025 Order of Merit after three victories this season. Rhodes arrives in Tenerife with a clear chance of adding a fourth title and extending her lead over her rivals in the rankings. Among them are Czech player Sara Kouskova, recent winner of the Jabra Ladies Open and third in the rankings, and her compatriot, number two in the rankings, Cara Gainer, also present this week at Abama.

Another of the tournament’s big stars is Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini, the revelation of 2024, a year in which she won three individual titles, two team titles, and the Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year awards. Tamburlini arrives in Tenerife after achieving her best result in a major, with a T14 in the U.S. Women’s Open, which underlines her excellent form.

Also returning are hugely talented and experienced players such as South Africa’s Casandra Alexander, who is back in competition after overcoming a ligament injury, and Scotland’s Carly Booth, a three-time LET winner, who will be playing her first tournament in three years. In addition, the tournament will feature seven Olympic golfers from the 2024 Paris Games, including Shannon Tan (Singapore), Emma Spitz (Austria), Sara Kouskova (Czech Republic), Alessandra Fanali (Italy), Diksha Dagar (India), Ursula Wikström, and Noora Komulainen (Finland).

The Spanish representation will be one of the largest in the tournament, with 17 players in the field. Leading the national armada are figures such as Marta Martín, winner of the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open in 2024; Ana Peláez, who made her professional debut in Madrid in 2022; Nuria Iturrioz, the most successful of the group with four LET titles; María Hernández, winner of the Ladies Slovak Open in 2010; and Carmen Alonso, champion in 2023 after 19 years on the circuit. Rounding out the contingent are Marina Escobar, Paz Marfà, Marta Sanz, Natasha Fear, Teresa Toscano, Mireia Prat, Clara Moyano, Blanca Fernández, Harang Lee, Amaia Latorre, María Parra, and local player Emma Cabrera Bello, a leading figure in Canarian golf.

The venue, Abama Golf, offers an unparalleled setting for the competition. Designed by Dave Thomas, the par-72 course stretches over 6,281 yards of undulating terrain, surrounded by palm trees, lakes, and views of the Atlantic Ocean and the island of La Gomera. The course, which previously hosted LET and European Tour tournaments in 2005 and 2006, offers optimal conditions this week to welcome the continent’s best players.

Beyond the sporting aspect, the Tenerife Women’s Open 2025 represents a strategic opportunity to promote Tenerife as a leading destination for sports and quality tourism. With nine golf courses and a wide range of hotels, restaurants, and cultural attractions, the island is positioned as a benchmark in Europe. Its commitment to sustainability is also key: 97% of the water used on its courses is regenerated or desalinated, making Tenerife an example of efficient resource management.
