Andalusia: epicentre of international women’s golf at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho
- The region reinforces its leadership as a leading destination in Europe for golf
- A sponsorship with measurable returns: international reach, attendance and economic activation that project the Andalusia brand beyond the region
From 27th to 30th November, the Real Guadalhorce Golf Club (Málaga) will once again host the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho, the season finale of the Ladies European Tour. The support of Andalusia as the main sponsor reinforces a sustained strategic line: positioning the region as a leading sports tourism destination, promoting seasonality and linking the brand to an event that attracts international attention every year.
The 2024 edition achieved solid results in terms of visibility and audience: 12 hours of live coverage, international distribution in 87 countries and potential coverage of 143.875 million households, with an estimated global audience of over 240 million. At the venue, the tournament brought together 10,750 attendees, accredited 86 media outlets and mobilised 125 volunteers, generating more than 350 jobs associated with the week of competition and a direct economic impact quantified at €623,700. These indicators consolidate the return on sponsorship and the attractiveness of the destination in key markets.
This performance is in line with the reality of golf in Andalusia: a strategic sector that contributes €5.456 billion annually and 51,000 jobs (direct, indirect and induced), with around 700,000 golf tourists per year and €1.757 billion in direct spending; approximately 85% of this expenditure occurs off the course (accommodation, restaurants, transport). The October–November window coincides with the peak golf season in the region, which multiplies the effect of the Open on occupancy and complementary expenditure.
On the sporting front, 2024 offered a story of maximum impact for the destination: Carlota Ciganda won her second Spanish Open at Guadalhorce after a thrilling final day, and amateur Andrea Revuelta was recognised with the Celia Barquín Award for best amateur. A national triumph and a brilliant performance by Spanish talent that amplify the association between Andalusia and the best women’s golf in Europe.
As a recent precedent for a major women’s event on the Costa del Sol, the 2023 Solheim Cup demonstrated the region’s drawing power and visibility: public estimates placed its overall economic impact at around €400–500 million; during the week, 65,010 spectators were registered at the venue and 465 journalists were accredited. This ‘demonstration effect’ reinforces the context in which the Open is growing and Andalusia’s commitment to women’s golf.
With Andalusia as the main sponsor alongside Turismo Costa del Sol, Málaga and the Real Guadalhorce Golf Club, they will once again showcase to the world a tournament that combines elite sport, measurable returns and promotion of the destination. The 2025 Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho will once again be an international showcase for Andalusia’s leadership in the sports tourism industry.
