Club de Campo Laukariz hosts a Santander Golf Tour event for the first time

- The Vizcaya club, which is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary, will host a tournament on the circuit for the first time
- The tournament will take place on 8–9 October and will feature 25 players from six different countries
This morning saw the presentation of the sixth round of the Santander Golf Tour in Vizcaya, specifically at the Laukariz Country Club, where some of the best golfers on the national and international scene will gather. It will be the first time that the circuit has held a tournament in Laukariz, coinciding with the club’s fiftieth anniversary.
The presentation of the event was attended by Mónica Salinas, chair of the C.C. Laukariz competition committee; Javier Saiz Bausela, president of the Basque Golf Federation; Íñigo Lasterra, commercial director of Santander Private Banking in the Basque Country; and Alicia Garrido, director of the Santander Golf Tour.
Mónica Salinas, chair of the C.C. Laukariz competition committee, explained: “This year we are in luck. We are celebrating the club’s 50th anniversary and from the outset we knew that hosting a Santander Golf Tour tournament, featuring women’s golf at the highest level, would be the icing on the cake for an event like this. It is also a unique opportunity for the public to follow the professionals closely and enjoy the experience first-hand.‘ On the sporting side, Mónica commented that ’it is a physically demanding course. It is important to play it with your head and strategy; there are holes that require you to go for it, but in many cases it is essential to place the ball in the right place to give yourself a chance to compete.”
Alicia Garrido, director of the Santander Golf Tour, celebrated ‘the debut of the Santander Golf Tour at such a wonderful course as the Laukariz Country Club, also taking advantage of the club’s 50th anniversary.’ On a competitive level, Garrido highlighted that “we have five events left on the 2025 calendar and the schedule is red hot. There are many players with a chance of becoming champions in the rankings, and this week we also have the two leaders: Lauren Holmey from the Netherlands, this year’s champion in Girona, and Alejandra Llaneza from Mexico, who won the Santander Golf Tour LETAS in Naturávila.” However, he also highlighted other names that will be competing for the title at C.C. Laukariz this week, such as ‘Amaia Latorre from Álava, María Herráez (champion of the ranking in 2024), some young players such as Ana Pina and Beatriz Barrios, who are making their debut as professionals, and amateurs Carmen Sainz, Amanda Revuelta and Evelina Gulliksson.’
Twenty-five players from six different countries will take part in the event, competing for the title on Course A at the Laukariz Country Club. Tomorrow will see the circuit’s Pro-Am, where amateurs and professionals will enjoy a unique day of golf, while the winner of the Santander Golf Tour Vizcaya 2025 will be decided on 8th and 9th October.
