Everything to be decided at the Santander LETAS in Naturávila

- Australia’s Justice Bosio leads after the first round with -5
- Barcelona’s Paz Marfá is in second place
- High temperatures were the undisputed stars of the day
Today was a spectacular day at Naturávila during the opening round of the LETAS Santander Golf Tour. There were many good results, with thirty players finishing under par.
The leader after the first eighteen holes of competition is Australia’s Justice Bosio, who teed off in the morning on a pristine course, as was her scorecard, with five birdies and thirteen pars, which was enough to propel her to the top of the leaderboard.
In second place, with four under par, are four players, including Barcelona’s Paz Marfá, who was also very satisfied with her round, in which she did not card a single bogey: “I’m very happy with my game. It’s been a long time since I carded four under par. I started off very calmly. I’ve been working on my swing for a long time and it’s getting better and better. In Pedreña, I saw that it was paying off, but I was disappointed not to win, so I’ll just keep enjoying these days and see what happens.” Regarding the course, Marfá was very satisfied with the improvements made in recent days.
The standings are very tight, with five players one stroke behind the leader—Norway’s Karoline Lund, Spain’s Paz Marfá, the Netherlands’ Lauren Holmey, the Czech Republic’s Lucie Vachova and Iceland’s Andrea Bergsdottir—and six more two strokes behind the leader. Everything will be decided in the next two days.
The bitter note of the day was for local player Marta Muñoz, who carded a 77, leaving her outside the cut at this point.
Some figures from the opening day
Thirty-one players managed to card a score under par in the first round. The cut stands at +1, with 55 players. Of the fourteen Spanish players, six made the cut, and eight will have to improve tomorrow if they want to be present on the final day. Two hundred and ninety-seven birdies and three eagles – on three different holes – make up the statistical summary of the first round at Naturávila.
Highs and lows among the Spanish players
Along with Paz Marfá, four other Spanish players managed to finish under par on this opening day: Natasha Fear from Alicante, Amaia Latorre from Álava, María Parra from Cádiz and María Herráez from Madrid, all with rounds of 71 strokes. Marta Pérez is at par for the course, while the rest of the Spanish contingent will have to bring out their best tomorrow to try to extend their presence in Ávila.
